Your Community Newspaper

The Desoto County Tribune was founded in 1972 and is the community newspaper for Olive Branch, Southaven and all of DeSoto County, Mississippi. The newspaper is published weekly from its offices at 8885 Goodman Road in Olive Branch. We are the county's only mailed, paid circulation newspaper, arriving each week in the mailbox of over 7,000 residences. The newspaper was founded by Doug Jones, who published it until 2001 when it was acquired by Emmerich Newspapers of Jackson, MS, publisher of two dozen daily and weekly newspapers in Mississippi and Arkansas, including the Enterprise Journal in McComb, MS, the Greenwood, MS, Commonwealth and the Delta Democrat Times in Greenville, MS. The newspaper's management team includes publisher and editor Jon Alverson, business manager Charlotte Hopper and advertising manager C.J. Joiner.

The newspaper also publishes the monthly North Mississippi Home Market Magazine, a publication tailored to the thousands of families who move into the vibrant, growing areas of DeSoto and neighboring counties each year and the Monthly Click magazine. These specialty publications are distributed throughout DeSoto and Marshall Counties and select areas of Shelby County, TN, the first of every month. Cindy White is sales manager for the Home Market magazine.

The Tribune is a member of the Mississippi Press Association.

The online version of the newspaper you are reading premiered in March 2005.
