Thrift store continues helping others in need

Thursday, March 20, 2008 4:14 PM CDT

Special to The Tribune

The Olive Branch Thrift Store is continuing its mission to help others in need.

The thrift store is an all volunteer service ministry that provides good, clean donated clothes to the community for a nominal cost, and at no cost to those referred from the local Food Bank or in an emergency such as a fire.

Proceeds from sales are donated to different ministries in the community.

Funds were recently disbursed to area ministries inlcuding House of Grace, The Baptist Children's Home in Independence, Sacred Heart Social Services, and Palmer Home for Children.

The thrift store, located next to the Food Bank at 10947 Hwy. 178 in Olive Branch, in what was the Fairhaven Fire Station, also provides a place locally for citizens to donate clothing they no longer need but would like to be useful to someone.
Nine local churches presently help run the store. Other churches are urged to get involved in the effort. If interested in becoming a volunteer or for more information, call Joyce Stewart at (662) 895-4924, or Janice Hogwood at (662) 895-6401.
